A gospel actor and member of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Evangelist Bayo Abraham has disclosed that shallowness is a serious spiritual problem in Christianity.
He made this statement in his daily devotional entitled “NOMADIC.” He stressed that NOMADIC means leaving a wandering life with no fixed abode.
Taking a clue from Proverbs 27:8, Bayo added that “even, to get valuable mineral resources we have to dig deep. They are not found on the surface. How come many think they can only gloss over spiritual preparation and still receive the best. The scripture says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall He also reap.” Galatians 6:7.
“Also, the Psalmist said, “Deep calleth unto deep.” Psalms 42:7. Let us mirror the sixth trait of the theme together. I call it “NOMADIC CHRISTIANITY.”
“There is an adage in western part of Nigeria that says, “Emi kii sun ile ana” meaning there is a squirrel species that doesn’t stay in a house he builds beyond a day. He builds new nest each day before he could sleep. This creature would leave the one he built previous day to gather materials to build another. That is his nature.”
According to him, some Christians are exactly like this animal, they find it difficult to stay put in a local assembly to settle down and be grounded in the words and will of God is a problem for such people.
He further noted that any moment they discover whatever they think is not in consonance with their standard or believe, the next thing such people do is to rush to another Church, maybe they are ignorant that there is no perfect church yet. Bayo stated that each believer the Lord is working on constitute the membership of local assemblies.
“Revelation chapters 2 and 3 are case studies. There you discover the deficiencies of each of the seven churches of Asia. If you sincerely and truthfully examine your life and allow the Holy Spirit to throw His searchlight into your activities both private and public, you will discover your shortcomings. Yours could be this one thing you are prayerfully battling with. That of your neighbour will definitely be deferent from yours. Also, your one thing could be heavier than another’s two or three things. God is He that can judge properly.
“I knew a brother many years ago. He was fond of magnifying another persons mistakes and frown at such shortcomings. He will say such are not expected of Christians. His own are gross. When anyone tells him that we need large heart to accommodate each other, he would say, such must not be condoned. Most of things he pointed attention to were not sins, but if you tell him some of his wrong actions , he would say I know mine but let us address this. He eventually left the Church.
“If he has not repented, he could have seen some things where he went to also. Satan will make a mountain out of a mole hill for us to let us leave our location because he knows that our allocation can only meet us at our right location.”
The Mount Zion member advised that such nomadic believers will be meeting all manners of doctrines wherever they go to. Confusion will be the end result of such action and If care is not taken, such may latter call it quit, live by your faith, the just shall live by his faith.
“Many children of God turn themselves to nomadic Christians in search of miracle signs and wonders, goodness and mercy etc. The reason they are doing this is because they have shallow knowledge of the word of the Almighty. All these should naturally follow them.
“The Bible says, “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” Mark 16:20.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33.
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”Psalms 23:6.
When you dwell committedly in the Church or Ministry you are planted by the Lord, all the above will be your portion. Stay where the Lord planted you, don’t transplant yourself. It is dangerous to wander about when God is not instructing you to leave.
” And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?” Gen.37:15.
“There is a place for you; discover it and stay there. Don’t allow distraction and pressure to push you out of your place of safety, blessings and peace.
“Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.” Psa. 92:13,” he said.
