Opinion: My Journey In Drama, Film Ministry 6 (For Next Generation) By Kingsley Nwachukwu

THE QUINTESSENTIAL KNOCK-OUT

As already narrated in the previous edition, a time came for the Graduating Set to hand over the MANTLE of leadership to us ( the following set) as our custom.

At this point, many EYES were already on me while on my own side, I had put up some CONNECTION and STRATEGIES to take Quintessence Theatre to the NEXT LEVEL.

Then came the announcement of the NEW EXECUTIVE OFFICERS. I was not made the Director, Assistant Director or even Secretary. I was announced the fifth in Command ( Stage & Costume Manager) of the unit.

So many of our brethren of non-western extraction ( non- YORUBAS) were FURIOUS. They felt I must have been short-changed because I am not of western extraction. I started hearing different comments and observations. One of the elders boldly reminded me that it had always been their way of handling people. That one can easily handover a mantle to them but they will cease it once it gets to their hands.

At this point, I became RESTLESS. I felt great DANGER. I discovered that HOWEVER I handle the challenge at hand will greatly influence my FUTURE.

At this point, all the MESSAGES of Bro Gbile Akanni ( the principles of OLD MAN/ Adamic nature) at my FOUNDATION/Church became expressly relevant.

I promptly DISREGARDED the quest of a few of our members to BREAK AWAY and start a NEW DRAMA GROUP under my watch.
I swiftly ACCEPTED the offer of OFFICE of COSTUME & STAGE MANAGER and resumed with others.

Our New Drama Director ( Bro Abraham) could not hide his feelings, after our exclusive EXCO MEETING. He said he had been observing me and had been AMAZED at all my actions ( ideas, finance and physical AVAILABILITY) to take Quintessence Theatre to the next level.

At my closet, I VOWED to GOD that even though I am not PRIVILEGED to LEAD the group and leave a LEGACY as I could have loved, I am ready to GIVE MYSELF more than ever before to ensure a SUCCESSFUL ADMINISTRATION. I felt ZARIA and KADUNA State in general must feel our IMPACTS before we depart. www.gospelfilmnews.com

Perhaps by divine direction, I saw our Drama Director always calling and checking on me. Unlike the inherited norm, he could share MATTERS that are meant for himself, 2nd and 3rd Commanders to discuss before telling other EXCO members.

As agreed, we commenced the organisation of 25th Quintessence Theatre ANNIVERSARY, invited over seventy-six former QT members of different ages and hosted EVANG MIKE and GLORIA BAMILOYE in that programme.

The ANNIVERSARY was explosive and opened a NEW CHAPTER in Quintessence Theatre’s Public Relations and Administration.

It was in that meeting that Evang Mike Bamiloye shared the VISION of ANCEDRAM and as usual, I was commissioned to follow up the KADUNA Drama Ministers Forum ( including the ones which we had invited to partake in the Anniversary Programme) to form a vibrant Kaduna State ANCEDRAM. That was how Samson Enitan, Sunday Israel, Joseph Alabi, Emmanuel Nnorum, etc came to the picture.

Quintessence Theatre also engaged in different drama outreaches.

Alas, it was time to say ” Good bye” to the campus and handover to the succeeding set.

After the handover, Bro Abraham ( Our Director) called me. As we started exchanging PARTING WORDS to each other, he embraced me and both of us started CRYING.
It was like ” So, we finally delivered?”

In that atmosphere of prayers and tears, he released FIVE PROPHETIC BLESSINGS to me ( four out of the five have been fulfilled today). We then left the Campus in preparation for the National Youths Service.

A few months before our national youths service, my director ( Bro Abraham) PASSED unto GLORY after a brief sickness.
May His Wonderful SOUL rest in peace!

SALIENT LESSONS
1) Life is like a RELAY RACE. We all do NOT have the same STARTING and ENDING points. Some people are in their MORNINGS; others in their AFTERNOONS and EVENINGS. A comparison is therefore UNNECESSARY and CHILDISH.

2) No matter your TALENT and ANOINTING, do not ignore your INNER WITNESS. It is STRONGER, SAFER and sees ahead of the FUTURE. When the TEMPEST was high, there was a CONVICTION in me that made me see the EXPERIENCE as basic PROMOTION EXAMINATION for the next level. I started working like an idiot in the administration without caring WHO TAKES the glory. I became an unprofitable servant. Even like biblical David in the forest in the forest, I was being sent here and there while most of my fellow exco-members were SEATED; enjoying Daddy Mike Bamiloye’s SEMINARS.

3) Learn to treat every issue in their right CONTEXT. Throughout the period, I found it DIFFICULT to believe that brethren of western extraction were my problem. Why? My favourite PASTORS, MENTORS and ROLE MODELS were all YORUBAS.

I felt my SEASON had not come. After all, JOSEPH was not an Egyptian but was much preferred in Egypt. The same to DANIEL and his brothers. I felt that no one can successfully RECEIVE and ENJOY ANYTHING except it is GIVEN to Him from ABOVE. What shall it PROFIT me if I become a director and start harbouring FLESH, CARNAL and DARKNESS -ORIENTED attitude in a group.

My EXPERIENCE in that leadership scenario marked a TURNING POINT in my life. It gave me a NEW PERCEPTION and the need to be FIRM and FAIR in relating with Co-workers; not minding social, academic or tribal background.

Before you check the next edition on my preparation for my Youth Service and depth-rooted commitment in starting and running the KADUNA CHAPTER of ANCEDRAM, I will encourage you to SOW a SEED into my ACCOUNT. Our Drama Leaders are currently RAISING FUND to acquire 25 Acres of LAND.

I am entitled to raise a particular SUM and I believe I can RAISE a MILLION NAIRA ( After all, GOD helped me to personally raise 1.1Million while serving as National President in the previous project. It is “DOABLE”. SOW into this ACCOUNT that I have DEVOTED to the PROJECT and send me an SMS/ Chat. They will be transferred to the right quarters ( be rest assured).
