Renowned Author and Filmmaker, President of Deep Thoughts Lighthouse Academy, Evangelist Opeyemi Akintunde, continues to blaze the trail in the literary and film industry, touching lives globally with her compelling stories, Gospel Film News gathered.

With 36 published novels, her books have been read worldwide, inspiring teenagers, youths, and families with thought-provoking narratives, She has reached millions by ensuring free access to most of her books, making them available on multiple paid and free platforms, prioritizing impact over profit.

In an exclusive interview with Gospel Film News Correspondent, Beyond writing, Akintunde has successfully adapted 10 of her novels into movies, bridging literature and film to bring powerful messages to the screen, Her storytelling talent has not only captivated readers but also transformed into visual masterpieces that reinforce moral values and Christian principles.

As a filmmaker and actress, she has directed and produced over 100 films, achieving national and international distribution, She has also played lead roles in movies such as Stepping Into Maggie’s Shoes and Eye Candy, as well as a supporting role in Netflix’s Becoming Abi, a globally streamed series.

A strong force in the creative industry, Akintunde is the founder of Deep Thoughts Lighthouse Academy, where she has trained over several creatives in writing, scriptwriting, acting, and filmmaking. Her academy hosts creative camps every holiday for children and teenagers, alongside masterclasses for youths and adults, further nurturing the next generation of storytellers and filmmakers.

She also plays a key leadership role as an executive member and treasurer of the Gospel Filmmaking Network (GFN), actively supporting Christian filmmakers. Her exceptional contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including the Legendary Author Award (2023), where she was recognized alongside Wole Soyinka, the Fejosbaba Viewers’ Choice Award (2024) for Best Actress in English Drama, and the Best Scriptwriting Award (Gospel Film Festival, 2010). She was also honored as Best Actress at Gofest in 2010.
