I Almost Got Killed on Mission Field, Felix Bankole Recalls Near-Death Experience in 2013

By Joy Adeosun

The President of Vision Drama Mission Campaign and Gospel filmmaker, Evangelist Felix Bankole, has shared how he narrowly escaped death during a mission trip in 2013, Gospel Film News gathered. www.gospelfilmnews.com

In a Social Media post, Bankole recounted that during their first mission trip to Cameroon in 2013, they ministered 33 times in various churches over a five-week period. The mission concluded with the production of a movie titled “The Finished Project.”

Bankole explained that while writing the script late one night in his lodge, he was praying and originally titled the project “The Unfinished Project”. However, he felt prompted by God to change the title to “The Finished Project”, and he obeyed. During the shooting of some night scenes in a remote area of Cameroon, they were unaware that the location had recently been terrorized by bad boys. In response, local residents had called in the military, and two soldiers arrived, one armed with a loaded magazine including a possible captain.

“God is faithful , he gave them patience, they were in the bush observing us for about an hour before they shot into the air and spoke French that we should lay on the ground. Thank God they did not open fire on arrival, they were patient enough to observe us record for a while,” he said.

He encouraged fellow missionaries to always obey God’s guidance, even when it seems illogical to human understanding, trusting that God will protect them in their work.

“To all missionaries labouring on the field, God will keep us all, nothing missing, no breaking of bone or loss of lives and properties. Always obey the Lord even if it’s not logical to human understanding. Probably it the title remained The unfinished project it many truly be an unfinished project if they spread the bullet on arrival,” he noted.
