Gospel Movie Makers, Beware of Making PSEUDO Christian Movies, Mike Bamiloye Advises
By Joy Adeosun
Legendary filmmaker and president of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Evang. Mike Bamiloye has advised Christian movie makers to beware of making PSEUDO Christian movies, Gospel Film News gathered.
This was disclosed in a post he made on Tuesday on his verified social media handle.
Mike Bamiloye refered for Pseudo Christian drama as drama or movie that either superficially mimics Christian themes, symbols, or narratives or misrepresent Christian beliefs and valves, adding that these dramas may incorporate elements of Christ but lack a genuine theological basis or authentic representation of Christian doctrine.
He continues; “Pseudo Christian focus on superficial morality or ethical dilemmas without a deeper exploration of Christian theological doctrines, pseudo Christian dramas can be seen as works that echo Christian themes but don’t faithfully represent or embody Christian teachings.
“We are beginning to see traces of these characteristics in some Christian movies of recent, I have sat down to watch more than five Christian movies now, that are just mere stories but lacked pure messages of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we are beginning to see Christian movies full of actions but rederee.
He Further disclosed that “three days ago, himself and his wife watched a Christian movie that is 1:32 mins in duration, it was only an investigative story without any message of the Gospel from beginning to 1hr 29 minutes, the last three minutes was where the name of Jesus was mentioned with quoting of a scripture verse.
“The movie was only an interesting story, but not empowered and inspired by the power of the Word of God. There were about four other Christian movies that I have seen and rose up with serious burden, because of this same errors. For 1 hour 10 mins, there were only Stories, there were no apparent Message, the , towards the very end, we would now see the major character being preached to or a deliverance in the name of Jesus now taken place at 5 minutes to the end.
“Why should we delay the Gospel of Salvation, Revival, deliverance or mentioning of the scriptures till the end of a movie, when some people may not wait till the end of the movie?
When you make a movie and there are no traces of God, Jesus Christ or scriptural mentions till very few minutes to the end, how do you want the Power of the Holy Spirit to take over the audience or viewers of the movie?
“Are we afraid or ashamed to identify with the Name of Jesus or the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Are we trying to look social or secular in order to attract the public to view our movies or what is the essence of making a Christian movie without a definite Message of Salvation, Revival, Restoration, Spiritual Illumination or Deliverance? We Gospel movie makers are beginning to pay more attention to the technicalities and cinematographic aesthetics than the Spiritual Message in the movie. www.gospelfilmnews.com
“The Gospel Filmmaker further implore Christian Movie-makers not to be lured into mere desire to create contents for traffic and monetization, but for expansion of the Kingdom of God.”
